Temple of Poseidon & Cape Sounion
Perched on cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea, the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion is renowned for its stunning sunsets. The temple dates back to the 5th century BC and was a beacon for sailors navigating the Aegean. Along the way, consider stopping for a swim at nearby beaches and enjoying fresh seafood at a nearby taverna by the sea.

Meteora
Famed for its monasteries perched above towering rock formations, the UNESCO-listed Meteora is one of Greece’s most breathtaking landscapes. These ancient Byzantine monasteries, built on the cliffs, offer awe-inspiring views and a glimpse into monastic life that dates back to the 14th century. You will be left wondering how they managed to build them. They are breathtaking!

Nafplio
Once the first capital of Greece, Nafplio is one of the country’s most prettiest and romantic towns. Its neoclassical mansions, Venetian fortresses and seaside promenades make it a perfect escape. Climb the Palamidi Fortress for panoramic views, wander the Old Town’s cobbled streets and visit the Bourtzi Castle, a small fortress on an island in the bay. There are beautiful beaches close by as well to enjoy a quick dip.

Ancient Olympia
The birthplace of the Olympic Games, Olympia is one of Greece’s most iconic archaeological sites. Walk through the ancient stadium, where athletes competed nearly 3,000 years ago, explore the ruins of the Temple of Zeus and visit the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, home to the famous Hermes of Praxiteles. The site remains a symbol of unity and athletic excellence, as it is still where the Olympic torch is lit before each modern Games.

Epidaurus
The Theater of Epidaurus is one of the best-preserved ancient theatres in the world, renowned for its flawless acoustics - even a whisper from the stage can be heard in the highest seats. The site was once a sacred healing center, dedicated to Asclepius, the god of medicine. If you visit in summer, catch a Greek tragedy or comedy at the Epidaurus Festival, where performances take place under the stars.

Hydra
A car-free island, Hydra is one of my personal favourite islands. Its charming preserved architecture, vibrant arts scene and scenic harbour, will enchant you. Just stroll through narrow alleys, relax at waterfront cafés and enjoy a swim in crystal-clear waters., one of my favourite things to do is swim off the rocks at Hydra, it’s so refreshing. Hydra is also known for its bohemian past, having been a favourite retreat of artists and writers like Leonard Cohen.
How to get there: 2-hour ferry from Piraeus Port.

Corinth Canal & Ancient Corinth (1-hour drive)
The Corinth Canal is an engineering marvel, connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Nearby, Ancient Corinth is home to rich historical sites, including the Temple of Apollo and the remains of the ancient city where St. Paul preached. And if you are brave you can always bungee jumps from the bridge into the Canal (not for the faint heart!).
