Greece 2025

The Countdown to Greece

I swear I count my life away in days until my next Greek trip. The minute I step off the plane from Greece, I’m already thinking about where to go next. New destination? Familiar spots? Family time or island hopping? The questions just keep coming. What’s wrong with me?

Last year was a whirlwind of excitement. My daughter’s wedding in the gorgeous island of Sifnos kicked off the trip and the first half of my time in Greece was all about the lead up and celebrating. The second half? That was filled with Patra, Mykonos, Amorgos and Naxos. Each one so special, they deserve their own post.

Speaking of Patra, I’ll share more soon about the incredible neoclassical hotel we stayed in. Mykonos was short but sweet. Amorgos was picture perfect. And Naxos? That island completely stole my heart. So much so that I’m going back this year.

Now let’s talk about this year’s Greece travel plans. It’s not a long trip but we’re packing it in.

First stop: Thessaloniki
I can’t wait to return. Last year I only had a quick day trip there, mostly racing around sorting out the wedding flowers (my cousins did them and I had to check everything was perfect). This time we’re staying a few days to see family, head out to my village and just enjoy being home. Honestly, there’s nothing like it.

Next: Naxos
Straight after Thessaloniki, we’re flying off to Naxos. Naxos airport needs a blogpost all of its own!

I’m really looking forward to spending a few nights there. Last time we were mostly unwinding after the wedding but this time I’m planning to explore properly. I’ve started working on a Naxos travel guide so there’s lots to check out and of course I’m staying somewhere dreamy.

Then: Milos
Milos always holds a little piece of my heart. We’ve been a few times but this year we’re staying longer so we can properly dive into the food scene and maybe do some of the activities I’ve been saving. I can already taste the watermelon pita. I have heard it is very busy now and I am hoping this is hasn’t spoilt Milos.

New Island: Syros
This year’s new island is Syros. I’ve heard so much about the neoclassical architecture and Italian feel. Everyone I know says it’s stunning. I just know I’m going to love it. We are 3 days in Syros and have packed a lot of places to eat and play.

Last stop: Athens - always
You know how I feel about Athens. I could easily spend months there but this time we’ve just got a few days. Still, I’m so excited. So many new restaurants and bars to try, and we’ll spend a little time in Glyfada too. Working on a Travel Guide for the Athens Riviera so excited about this one. There’s something about Athens that never gets old.

And maybe if there’s time (I’m manifesting here), we’ll squeeze in Koufonisia, Hydra or Kimolos. Just a little bonus magic.

In the meantime, I’ll be posting details from last year’s travels. All the places, food and moments that made it so special. So if you’re planning your own Greece 2025 trip or just want to follow along, I’ll be sharing stories, photos and plenty of tips from one Greek summer to the next.
